Our Family Tradition

Our Family TraditionFor over 30 years the Sleepy Hollow Christmas Tree Farm has been family owned and operated.

In the late 1970's our young family traveled some distance to cut down our fresh Christmas Tree. It was a great tradition and the children really enjoyed the experience. That got us thinking... we like to grow things and this really brings families together. We can do this, we will grow our own Christmas Trees!

And so our tradition became a business that we could all participate in. The first seedling, a Virginia Pine, was planted in 1980 the same year that our third child was born.

For the next four years Dad and his two sons kept busy clearing fields, planting, pruning, sheering, and mowing. You can't just plant a tree and walk away! Four years later we opened for business and sold our first Christmas Tree.

The time has passed quickly. Dad is still in charge but will be gradually handing over the family business to his son and 23 year old daughter.

Growing trees is not an easy endeavor, just ask any farmer, it takes a lot of dedication and hard work. The trees are in charge! You must mow, prune, plant and nurture when needed the result, however, is very rewarding.

Our trees are grown with much love and care. It is with great joy and satisfaction that they provide a beautiful addition to the homes of many families at Christmas Time.
